A passenger has died in a road accident in Kasungu while the driver has sustained minor injuries after a truck they were travelling in overturned.
Kasungu Police publicist, James Kachikho, has identified the deceased as Gift Kamanga.
Kachikho said the truck, driven by Martin Benson, overturned after one of its tyres burst near Chinyenya Village along the M1 Road.
“The truck was cruising while loaded with bags of cement when it overturned and in the process, killing a passenger,” he said.
The passenger was rushed to Nkhamenya Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival as he suffered severe head injuries.
“As Police we are yet to establish their ages and where they come from. But the driver is currently admitted at Nkhamenya Hospital where he is receiving treatment,” said Kachikho.
