NGO promotes Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign

Breast Cancer Care Foundation (BCCF) has encouraged women to continue conducting self breast-checks and regular breast cancer screening as early detection of the disease saves lives.

Speaking during a Carnival Street Parade in Blantyre, which was part of celebrations for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Founding Director of BCCF, Tabitha Warwick, said it is crucial to raise awareness about breast cancer throughout the year since it is the leading cause of cancer deaths among women in the country.

Warwick further said as part of their corporate social responsibility, they are currently offering free ultrasound breast cancer screening at their Dream Centre facility in Mandala.

Ministry of Health records show that 1 in 8 women in the country are diagnosed with breast cancer.
