The Northern East Education Division (NEED) has expressed confidence in hosting a successful National Youth Games, despite facing significant financial challenges.

Samuel Kanyenda, the Regional Organising Chairperson, made the remarks in Mzuzu during the regional finals, held in preparation for the national competition scheduled for this weekend.

“Mzuzu City is set to host the thrilling conclusion of the 2024 National Youth Games Season Four, featuring talented primary and secondary school athletes. We aim to make this tournament an unforgettable experience for all participants,” said  Kanyenda.

However, Kanyenda disclosed to MBC that the organising committee is grappling with several challenges, including financial constraints.

In response, Josophine Pindani of Lilongwe Dairy has pledged support for the tournament.

“We are providing milk, yoghurt, and drinks for the athletes during the competition period,” she said.

Primary and secondary school athletes are expected to compete in various disciplines at the National Youth Games, including football, netball, volleyball, athletics, and basketball.
