Governance analyst Undule Mwakasungula has called on Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) President Peter Mutharika to present evidence on his claims that the government plans to rig 2025 elections.
He stresses that such allegations have potential to trigger violence and voter apathy.
Mutharika made the claims during a rally he addressed at Njamba Park in Blantyre.
“APM’s remarks regrettably, could also deepen political polarization in our country. Such statements, which aim to divide rather than unite us, should not be tolerated. As a nation, our strength lies in our unity, and we must resist any efforts that seek to divide us along political lines,” says Mwakasungula in a statement.
He says Malawi has a wealth of progressive individuals and urged APM to consider his legacy and how he could best contribute to Malawians outside the presidential office.
“There is still life after presidency,” Mwakasungula adds.
