MBS warns against unregistered equipment

The Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) has warned against unauthorised installation, repair or service of weighing and measuring equipment.

MBS has since engaged trade officers from district councils and police officers to assist the bureau on the restrictions, which are in line with the Metrology Act of 2016, with an aim to ensure fair trade

They had an interface in Blantyre where MBS also issued a list of 27 registered companies authorised to install, repair or service weighing instruments used in trade.

The instruments include weighing scale, spring balances, weigh bridges, digital hanging scales and other weighers such as batch, bin and axle.

MBS has further advised the industry and the public to use a toll-free number 462 for sharing information.
