Maranatha Academy tops university selection

Maranatha Academy Private School has once again proven its academic excellence, with 336 out of 519 students earning places at various public universities in the 2024/25 selection released by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE).

The school’s Managing Director, Ernest Kaonga, expressed his delight at the exceptional results, attributing the success to the dedication of students, teachers, and parents.

“Mind you we work with students who were not selected for secondary education and we don’t have entrance examinations. We work hard and inspire them that they can do it. A total of 336 students have been selected for admission to public universities. This is no mean achievement, and we are grateful to the parents who entrusted us with their children’s future,” said Kaonga.

He commended the students for their hard work and encouraged them to embrace the next phase of their academic journey with confidence.

At a time when access to education remains a challenge for many girls, Kaonga was particularly pleased that Maranatha Academy has continued to empower female students.

“The girls at our school have demonstrated that, given the necessary support, they can achieve just as much as their male counterparts. Their dedication and outstanding performance reflect our commitment to quality education for all,” added Kaonga.

Kaonga further noted that the school’s achievement aligns with global goals of empowering women and reducing poverty.

He said: “This success reaffirms the importance of investing in girls’ education. When you educate a girl, you educate a nation.”

Nationwide, NCHE received 24,582 applications, with 12,819 students securing places at various public universities. Of these, 7,627 are male, while 5,202 are female.
