MANGOCHI DISTRICT COUNCIL EMBARKS ON A NEW JOURNEY WITH STATE-OF-THE-ART OFFICE COMPLEX

In a stride towards enhancing infrastructure and fostering development in Malawi, the Minister of Local Government, Unity, and Culture, Richard Chimwendo Banda, expressed gratitude to the Government of Iceland for its unwavering support.
The occasion was marked by the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Mangochi District Council Chamber and Finance Office, a joint initiative between the Government of Malawi and Iceland.
The ambitious project is valued at K1.9 billion, and is set to address long-standing office space challenges within the Mangochi District.Iceland generously contributed K1.1 billion, and the construction is anticipated to be completed within the next 12 months.

Minister Chimwendo Banda, presiding over the groundbreaking ceremony, emphasized the significance of this collaboration in not only resolving the district’s infrastructural limitations but also in bolstering the aesthetic appeal of Mangochi, positioning it as a key tourism destination in the heart of Malawi.

“We are immensely grateful for the partnership with the Government of Iceland, which reflects their commitment to the development of our nation.

This project not only marks a new chapter for Mangochi but also strengthens our ties with a valued ally,” said Banda during the ceremony.

The Mangochi District Council Chamber and Finance Office, once completed, is expected to become a symbol of modernity and efficiency.

The minister highlighted that the new facility aligns with the government’s broader vision of providing conducive working environments for public servants, ultimately translating into improved service delivery.

The collaborative effort between Malawi and Iceland signifies a diplomatic and developmental triumph, with both nations contributing resources to propel the growth of the Mangochi District.

In the coming months, as the Mangochi District Council Chamber and Finance Office takes shape, the collaborative efforts of Malawi and Iceland will stand as a shining example of the positive outcomes that can be achieved through international cooperation and shared commitment to progress.
