CHITIPA CHIEFS AND MPs READY TO HOST REFUGEES AND ASYLUM SEEKERS

Traditional leaders and Members of Parliament from Chitipa have given government a go ahead to transfer some refugees from Dzaleka Refugees camp in Dowa, to a new camp to be established in Chitipa.

Senior Chief Wenya has said this Lilongwe during a briefing for traditional leaders and members of Chitipa District Council ahead of a visit to Dzaleka tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Minister of Homeland Security Ken Zikhale Ng’oma says government has presented its request to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees for financial support towards construction of facilities meant for the new camp.

Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace National Coordinator Boniface Chibwana has commended progress being taken in identifying lasting solutions to some of the challenges refugees and asylum seekers are facing facing including the issue of accommodation.
