Malawi has been appointed to lead activities of the African Ministers Council of Water (AMCOW) due to the passion of President Dr Lazarus Chakwera’s Government in spearheading the water and sanitation agenda.
Some members of AMCOW were in the country to hold talks with Minister of Water and Sanitation, Abida Mia, to get Malawi’s input in pushing the water Agenda at the 37th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union slated for February 2024.
AMCOW’ s Executive Secretary, Dr Rashid Mbazira, said there are several lessons the council can learn from Malawi for instance managing water systems after a disaster and dealing with waterborne diseases.
Meanwhile, Mia has since accepted the task and says water is an integral part of human existence as such it must be given priority.
