The Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Research Programme Innovations Week is underway in Blantyre.
It accords different players, both local and international, a chance to explore how they can take health innovations a step further, key to achieving the programme’s vision.
Speaking at the opening, National Planning Commission (NPC) Research Manager, Andrew Jamali, says health innovations are key to help Malawi achieve the 2063 development agenda.
“There are so many challenges which Malawi is confronted with in terms of health, some of which are the re-insurgence of some diseases which we addressed in the past and there are new diseases influenced by climate change, poor diets and economic situations, all this requires a concoction of innovations to address them,” said Jamali.
Translation Science Champion for Malawi Liverpool Welcome Research Programme, Alice Mbewe, says the event will discuss Innovations that will change the ecosystem for the health sector, thereby improving the social economic development of the country.
