Malawi commemorates World First Aid Day

Malawi has joined the rest of world in commemorating World First Aid Day, which is held every year on 14 September to raise awareness about the importance of first aid in saving lives.

Malawi Red Cross Society (MRCS) in collaboration with the Kasungu Football Committee are leading the commemorating activities in Kasungu under the theme ‘First and Sports – Ready, Set and Respond’.

The activities started with a march from Kasungu Municipal Council through to Kasungu Stadium, where various activities including first aid demonstrations and a football match between Santhe Admarc and Chisomo Academy, will take place.

According to MRCS, the initiative aims to scale up first aid education and equip people with skills necessary to respond effectively in emergencies.
