A survey by the NGO Regulatory Authority (NGORA) has exposed that most local NGOs struggle with securing additional funding from donors due to mismanagement of resources.
Unpacking the findings in Lilongwe on Friday, Chief Executive Officer for NGORA, Edward Chileka, noted that once their initial funding runs out, most local NGOs are unable to continue with their projects and quickly lose trust of donors unlike international NGOs.
To address the challenge, NGORA, with support from the government, established a K 1 billion NGO fund with the hope of closing the gap in capacity.
The goal is to help them operate more sustainably and ensure lasting impact of their interventions.
