The Ministry of Lands says Land Information Management Systems (LIMS) will ease processes in land acquisition and management.
Minister of Lands, Sam Kawale, disclosed this in Parliament during the presentation of a ministerial statement.
“When LIMS roll out by 31 December 2022, sanity will prevail. There will be no need to visit the Ministry of Lands offices because everything will be automated. One can apply and pay for a piece of land online. This will boost revenue collection on the part of the government.
“We have several cases where official documents have been missing. This system will end that malpractice because we will be able to track who handled a particular document,” said Kawale.
The ministry has also uncovered a syndicate which was selling land dubiously and some of the ring leaders are current and former employees of the ministry.
“We have busted this syndicate and currently the right authorities have taken up the issue. Soon we will prosecute those behind the dubious sale of land in our country,” said Kawale.
The minister indicated that the Red Star Campaign will recommence and said the ministry will move the courts if other ill-meaning stakeholders obtain an injunction saying this derails the progress of the country.
