Disease Control Surveillance Assistants (DCSAs) from health facilities under the Lilongwe District Health Office (LDHO) and Environmental Health Assistants from the Malawi College of Health Sciences have joined the rest of the world in commemorating the World Environmental Health Day, which aims to foster a safe and healthy environment for everyone.
They started the commemorations with a march from Wakawaka Market in Area 36 through to LDHO at Bwaila, where a number of activities took place.
This year’s theme is ‘Environmental Health: Creating Resilient Communities through Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation’.
The day is observed annually on 26 September to tackle key issues such as clean air, water, sanitation, pollution control and waste management.
