Likoma youths speak out against political exploitation

The Likoma District Youth Network has urged political parties to desist from misusing the youth during political campaigns for their own benefit.

Chairperson of the organisation, Emmanuel Kapekenya, said this on Tuesday during a media briefing in Likoma, which they organised.

Kapekenya noted with concern that some politicians take advantage of the youth during the campaign period.

“From our experience, we have had issues and witnessed violence at previous political rallies or campaigns where political parties could easily use the youth to cause chaos for other parties,” he said.

He added that the youth have a role in ensuring that the Agenda 2063 goals are met and pledged that the youth network will continue working with the government of the day.
