Karonga District Council resolves accountability issues

Karonga District Council Secretariat and councillors say they are committed to strengthen collaboration to improve service delivery.

The remarks were made during a meeting chaired by District Commissioner Willard Mwambo.

The meeting followed a letter from Council Chairperson Atusaye Mwenifumbo who raised concerns over selected Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects, revenue reporting and the flow of information between the Secretariat and councillors.

The concerns included accountability on the completion of the Karonga District Administration Office, construction of double toilets at Old Town, renovation of a classroom block at Zgeba Community Day Secondary School just but to mention a few.

Council Chairperson Atusaye Mwenifumbo welcomed the resolutions, saying councillors were satisfied with the outcome and would no longer proceed with plans to close council offices.
