Embassy of Japan in Malawi has celebrated Japan Day in Lilongwe, marking the event with Japanese cultural displays and commemorating the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Malawi.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nancy Tembo, highlighted the strong bonds that have grown between the two countries, commending Japan’s contributions to Malawi’s development.
Japanese Ambassador to Malawi, Yoichi Oya, emphasized the significance of the event, describing Japan Day as a bridge of cultural exchange that strengthens mutual understanding and appreciation between the two nations.
The day originated as a cultural diplomacy initiative, to promote Japanese art, cuisine and customs, with an aim to foster mutual understanding with host countries.
