Illovo Sugar Company has launched a three-day health camp at Bereu Health Centre in Chikhwawa to offer free services to communities around Bereu in the area of Senior Chief Maseya in the district.
This initiative, which is in its pilot phase, is targeting 3000 people.
The company’s General Manager, Ricky Pillay, said the initiative is part of their corporate social responsibility and they also aim to improve health service delivery to communities who reside around their sugar plantations.
Senior Chief Lundu concurred with Pillay’s sentiments and commended Illovo for the initiative.
Some of the services on offer include mental health services, blood pressure tests, blood sugar screening, Ears, free eye tests and free eyeglasses, and Nose and Throat tests.
