A 27-year-old herbalist is in Police custody at Monkey Bay Police Station for allegedly defiling a 16-year-old girl.
It is reported that in the month of February the herbalist Tchafu Yusuf approached the parents of the victim that he identified a problem in the womb of their daughter that needs to be treated and healed.
The mother started escorting the victim to the herbalist to receive medication but she was stopped by the herbalist saying that the victim should go alone.
The victim went with the suspect for medication.
Taking advantage of the mother’s absence the herbalist defiled her and threaten her not to reveal the ordeal.
After she had missed her monthly period the victim reported the matter to her parents and later it was reported to Namkumba police unit.
The suspect will appear in court soon for defilement charges.
Tchafu hails from Kalonga Village, Traditional Authority Mponda , Mangochi District.
