Farmers in the country have been urged to adopt climate-friendly farming technologies to increase crop production.
Principal Agriculture Officer for Mzimba North, Miriam Nkhoma made the remarks at Manyolo in Mzimba District during the launch of this year’s Integrated Catchment Management project.
Senior Chief Mpherembe of the area said the initiative is key in achieving a food and income-secure nation.
One of the beneficiaries of the project, Mary Kumwenda hopes to realise increased maize harvest this growing season.
Among other technologies, the Ministry of Agriculture is promoting Mlmanure production, deep bed farming, natural tree regeneration, and improved animal housing.
