Minister of Sports and Youth, Uchizi Mkandawire, says President Dr Lazarus Chakwera is deeply saddened by the death of Major Flora Selemani Ngwirinji, who until her death was a Pilot in the Malawi Defence Force(MDF).
Mkandawire has said this in Thyolo District where the funeral programme for Major Selemani is taking place.
MDF Deputy Commander, Lieutenant General George Jafu, says the gap that late Major Selemani Ngwirinji has left will not be easy to fill.
Jafu described Major Selemani as a well experienced pilot who served the President as well as high-level visitors from across the world.
Major Selemani joined MDF in November 1999 and was commissioned as an officer in 2015.
She rose from Lieutenant, Captain up to Major.
She also served as Base Operation and Training Officer, Wing Commander as well as Base Flight Safety Officer.
