Minister of Education Madalitso Kambauwa Wirima says her ministry has put in place different measures to address digital technology infrastructure and resources disparities existing in the country’s education sector.
She stressed this is critical in ensuring the country produces skilled human capital essential for achieving the Malawi 2063 development aspirations.
Wirima said this in Lilongwe on Tuesday during the opening of the 2024 Annual Education Joint Sector Review Meeting.
She said under the ministry’s digitalisation agenda, they will ensure electrification of schools in the country, access to the internet.
The minister added her commitment in making at least 40 digital access devices available per school to complement traditional teaching methods and foster digital learning methods, among others.
Wirima said the ministry has developed policies such as National Open distance and e-learning policy, Inclusive Education Policy, ICT in education policy, National Science Technology and Innovation Policy, among others to be operational by the end of 2024/2025 fiscal year to support the ministry’s digitalisation agenda.
The Annual Joint Sector Review Meeting is being held under the theme “Education for Impact”.
