2,500 Green Innovators equipped with skills, tools

Youth Action for Success and Development (YASD) has empowered approximately 2,500 youths and women with skills and tools to promote green solutions under the Local Green Innovations Champions Project (LOGIC).

This initiative aims to equip participants with green skills to overcome financial challenges while adapting to climate change.

Through LOGIC, YASD has distributed essential tools, including hoes, rakes, shovels, work suits, and gloves, to support youth and women working in organised groups.

Speaking during the conclusion of the distribution process, YASD Executive Director, Edward Msiska, highlighted that the project specifically trained 160 lead youths and women in climate-smart agricultural practices and entrepreneurship.

The trained leaders are expected to pass on their knowledge to others in their communities, fostering broader awareness and skill development.

One beneficiary, Gift Chisale, a member of the Youth Friendly Health Services group, shared how the initiative has transformed his life.

Chisale said after completing his MSCE, he had no opportunities and he testified that through YASD, he had learned to make tumblers and charcoal from waste materials, which now provides him with a source of income.
