Activities marking the Africa Day celebration at God’s Grace Academy in Blantyre are underway with learners at the school dressed in traditional attire and showcasing skills to the excitement of patrons.
The event, held under the theme “Educate and Skill Africa for the 21st Century,” features a focus on African foods and attire.
On 25 May, Africa Day commemorates the historic day in 1963, when African nations came together to form the Organisation of African Unity, the precursor to the African Union (AU).
This day celebrates the continent’s successes and progress made, while also acknowledging each nation’s challenges.
