FOCCAD disburses K408 million to Improve livelihoods

The Foundation for Community and Capacity Development (FOCCAD) has disbursed K408 million to 24 villages in Nkhotakota as part of its Facilitated Collective Action Process (FCAP) project.

The funds, provided by Spark Microgrant, will be used to implement community-driven initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods and overall well-being. The initiative builds on the success of a previous pilot phase that demonstrated positive impacts on 12 villages.

FOCCAD Executive Director, Dan Nthara, expressed optimism about the potential of this project to transform lives.

“We have witnessed firsthand the power of community-led development. By providing financial resources and support, we are empowering these villages to create sustainable solutions to their challenges,” Nthara said.

The 24 villages that benefited from the grant, located in Traditional Authorities Mwadzama, Mphonde, and Kalimanjira, have already embarked on a diverse range of projects, including irrigation schemes, community fishing, and tailoring schools.

The project is being implemented in collaboration with Nkhotakota District Council to ensure its effectiveness and sustainability.
