Educators hope to lure drop-outs in Ntcheu with sports

In a bid to encourage learners to return to school, Lizulu Education Zone in Ntcheu District has dished out trophies, cash prizes and jerseys worth K1.2 million to schools under the ‘Bring Back Learners to School’ initiative.

Speaking at Lizulu Ground on Tuesday, Lizulu Education Sports Zonal Chairperson, Chikondi Pasula, confirmed that their mission is to improve learners’ enrolment in the district.

Member of Parliament for the area, Lymon Zimphondo, who supported the initiative with K500,000 and jerseys, described it as an important tool for promoting grassroots sports besides luring those who dropped out back to school.

District Sports Officer for Ntcheu, Mathero Sitima, encouraged the organisers to involve her office for support in future.
