Duo arrested for betting shop theft

Limbe Police Station has arrested two men suspected to have robbed a Premier Bet Express shop in Blantyre’s Bangwe Township.

Deputy Public Relations Officer for the station, Chibisa Mulimbika, says the two, among others, made off with three Samsung 42-inch plasma TV screens and three sets of Dell desktop computers, collectively valued at over K2 million.

According to Mulimbika, the law enforcers have managed to recover some of the stolen property.

‘One plasma TV screen and one desktop were recovered and positively identified by the owners. Further investigations to recover the remaining items are underway,’ he said.

The suspects; Mphatso Phiri, 38, and Shizz Madeya, 20, who committed the crime on Thursday last week, will appear in court soon.
