Zomba District Commissioner (DC), Reinghard Chavula, has urged staff members to be more responsive to the needs of the communities they serve by delivering essential services effectively.
Speaking on Friday in Liwonde during a quarterly review meeting for the Malawi Watershed Improvement Services Project (MWASIP), Chavula expressed concern over community resistance to adopting certain interventions, despite the implementation of various rural development programmes.
Chavula appealed to her staff to ensure that there is change.
“As we have this review meeting, let us reflect on the contributions we have made, analyse where we are getting wrong and right and promote sustainability of all what we have implemented,” said Chavula.
MWASIP District Cordinator McKinley Dupu said that despite vigorous campaigns, community members lack a sense of ownership, which he noted affects the sustainability of various projects.
Zomba district council is one of the districts implementing the MWASIP project, which aims to enhance sustainable land use and management through various interventions.
