CSEPWP boosts economic status of families in Nsanje

Communities in Nsanje District have hailed the Climate Smart Enhanced Public Works Programme (CSEPWP) for accelerating economic opportunities in their households.

Speaking on Monday, Folinda Manthenga of Champira Village, Traditional Authority Mbenje in Nsanje, said she now owns nine pigs from the initial one she bought upon receiving CSEPW Programme wages.

And 62-year-old Chrissy Kamtundu from Magoti in the same Traditional Authority Mbenje, said she owns two goats after she invested her wages from the programme in Village Savings Bank (VSL).

Among others, communities are constructing check dams and planting trees to contain soil erosion as part of the programme.

CSEPW is a government initiative under the Social Support for Resilient Livelihoods Project implemented by National Local Government Finance Committee, with financial support from the Multi-Donor Trust Fund and the World Bank.
