A cold war has erupted between Flames coach Patrick Mabedi and forward Frank ‘Gabadinho’ Mhango after the latter was dropped from the Malawi National Football team squad which is expected to lock horns against Sao Tome and Principe on Thursday at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.
Gaba’s omission comes despite his recent impressive form at his club, Moroka Swallows, where he has scored five goals in eight DSTV Premiership games.
In his justification, Mabedi said Mhango was dropped due to his failure to adapt to the coach’s playing style, as observed at the Four Nations tournament.
On his part, Mhango said he respects Mabedi’s decision and went on to add that he can still perfom even after he reaches the age of 40.
