Member of Parliament for Karonga Township Daniel Chithonya Mwanyongo has advised communities in his constituency to own and participate in monitoring the implementation of reformed CDF projects
Chithonya Mwanyongo was speaking at Karonga Community Ground when the town Council officially unveils contractors who will implement projects under the reformed CDF in the constituency.
The Parliamentarian called for collaboration among different stakeholders to ensure successful implementation of the reformed CDF projects.
Chithonya Mwanyongo commended President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika for living his campaign promise to increase the CDF from K 220 million to K5 billion per constituency.
“It is the first time in history for government to give us such a huge amount for Development in Karonga town constituency: Not only Karonga but I should say across the country. May I ask government to continue,” said Chithonya Mwanyongo.
Chief Executive Officer for Karonga Town Council Margaret Kunje said the council will be supervising and monitoring all projects to ensure quality and timely completion.
Chairperson for Karonga Town constituency Development Committee Reverend Mwayi Soko said the community will ensure value for money so the projects they have prioritized benefit them and future generations.
The contractors for 8 CDF projects are expected to construct bridges, feeder roads and classroom blocks, among others.
