Lilongwe Children’s Parliament has urged the government to build additional school blocks and provide more educational opportunities for children to help reduce illiteracy rates in the country.
Organised by World Vision Malawi, the assembly has brought together young representatives from Lilongwe Mpenu Constituency.
Harold Munthari, Programmes Manager at World Vision Malawi, assured the child legislators that all the problems raised would be given much needed attention.
He also emphasised the importance of providing platforms for the youth to voice their concerns about issues affecting them in the country.
The three-day Children’s Parliament for Lilongwe also addressed issues related to drug and substance abuse among youths and infrastructure development in the country.
