In a quest to ensure that rural areas have access to electricity,President Dr Lazarus Chakwera is at Joho Trading Centre, Traditional Authority Nsanama in Machinga District where he is expected to officially launch the Malawi Rural Electrification Programme (MAREP Phase 9).
It is all smiles as people around the area are hoping that the connection of their area to the national grid will accelerate socioeconomic development.
Minister of Energy Ibrahim Matola says 460 trading centeres across the country will be connected with electricity through MAREP.
