Blue Eagles Head Coach, Eliya Kananji, says his side is targeting nothing less than maximum points in their third fixture of the 2025 TNM Super League, as they host Creck Sporting Club this afternoon at Nankhaka Stadium in Lilongwe.
The visitors, Creck, currently sit bottom of the table in 16th place with no points, following a heavy 4-1 defeat to FCB Nyasa Big Bullets at Kamuzu Stadium on Wednesday.
In contrast, Blue Eagles go into the match with renewed confidence after a convincing 4-0 victory over newly-promoted Songwe Border United last Saturday at the same venue, placing them 7th with three points.
Kananji acknowledged the challenge ahead, saying that Creck will be hungry for redemption after a poor start to the season.
“It won’t be an easy game. They are looking to bounce back, so we have to be at our best,” said Kananji.
Creck’s Head Coach, Joseph Kamwendo, remains optimistic despite the rough start.
He drew confidence from his team’s recent goalless draw against Bullets in the Airtel Top 8, expressing hope that they can replicate that resilient performance.
“I’ve spoken to the players they understand the importance of this match and the need to collect three points,” said Kamwendo.
Meanwhile, in another fixture this afternoon, defending champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets will host Songwe Border United at Kamuzu Stadium.
Bullets coach, Peter Mponda, has made some changes to his squad, dropping team captain Clyde Senaji, who is still recovering from injury, along with goalkeeper Clever Mkungula.
Songwe’s coach, Enock Mhone, said his side has reflected on their previous losses and is prepared to make improvements.
“We have learnt from our mistakes. The boys are ready for the challenge,” Mhone said.
The match between Bullets and Songwe will be broadcast live on MBC TV1 and 2ontheGo.
