‘Respect the rights of people with disabilities’

Minister of Gender Jean Sendeza has called on Malawians to respect the rights of persons with disabilities.

Sendeza said this in Dedza at Thete Ground in the area of Senior Chief Kachere during the commemorations of the Flag Week.

“It is sad to note that parents of children with disabilities do not allow their children to attend school. That is a child’s rights violation which we should not condone. Selection of beneficiaries of social cash transfer, relief response and NEEF loans should also target them,” She said.

Board chairperson for the Malawi Council for Disability Affairs, Alex Dzinkambani, said they will continuously disseminate information on the laws and policies and display some of the activities of persons with disabilities in Malawi, through the Flag Week which is commemorated annually.
