Malawi Assemblies of God University (MAGU) have claimed a 45 – 41 win over African Bible College (ABC) to retain the Mo626 College Basketball trophy in the men’s category.
MAGU ladies have also defended the trophy after defeating University of Lilongwe 52 – 48 in the ladies’ final.
They will pocket K5 million each with runners up and third placed teams in men’s and ladies each receiving K3 million and K2 million, up from K2.5 million, K1.5 million and K750,000 during the last edition.
Daniel Jere, Chief Financial Officer at National Bank of Malawi (NBM), the sponsor of the tournament since 2017, expressed satisfaction with the spirited performance from the competing teams and that both final games lived up to their billing and kept the fans on their toes throughout the games.
