The Malawi Olympic Committee (MOC) has emphasised the critical role of coach education in advancing the hockey sport across the nation.
Speaking on Saturday evening at the official opening of a five-day National Level 1 Coaching Course, MOC Treasurer General, Andrew Mkwezalamba, underscored the importance of equipping coaches with the necessary skills to enhance the sport.
The event, held at Golden Peacock in Blantyre, is organised under the auspices of the Federation of International Hockey (FIH) and supported by Olympic Solidarity.
The course, which has drawn 22 participants from across Malawi’s three regions, is funded by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) through its Olympic Solidarity programme.
“This course offers Malawian coaches a valuable opportunity to acquire the skills needed to elevate hockey to the next level,” Mkwezalamba said.
The course is being led by Egyptian Maggid Abu Talib, an FIH Academy Educator and an FIH Level 5 Coach.
