CHAKWERA CALLS FOR COLLECTIVE APPROACH TO DEVELOP MALAWI

President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has reaffirmed his commitment to creating a conducive environment for all Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in the country for the betterment of all Malawians.

Dr Chakwera was speaking during a presidential gala dinner organized for NGOs at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe. The Malawi leader emphasized the need for teamwork as opposed to pulling each other down.

“I am inspired and fortified in my belief that there is so much we can accomplish as a nation by working together and pulling in the same direction rather than pulling each other down,” Dr Chakwera said.

Speaking earlier, Minister of Gender Jean Sendeza, said the gathering symbolizes the passion the President has for NGOs in Malawi. During the dinner, various NGOs were awarded for their outstanding performance in various categories.

Those recognized include organizations that played a big role during Cyclone Freddy and the most complying NGOs for the past three years. Family Health International, Self Help Africa and Life Concern organisation of Rumphi are some of the awardees.

Dr Joyce Banda and Vera Chirwa were also recognized as veteran figures in changing the lives of Malawians. Mai Aisha Trust and World Vision International joined the list of awardees in the category of highest-funded NGOs that continue to make a difference in people’s lives.
