Two arrested for cultivating cannabis in Mzimba

Police at Jenda in Mzimba District have arrested Julius Zgambo, 27, and Alfred Zimba, 22, on suspicion of cultivating cannabis without permits at Vibangalala in the district.

According to the spokesperson for Jenda Police, Macfarlen Mseteka, on Sunday night police detectives learned that the two suspects were cultivating the illicit drug in the area.

“During the arrest, Zgambo was found to have cultivated 350 plants of cannabis and he was also found with 2 kilogrammes of loose cannabis, while Zimba was found with 100 plants of cannabis in his garden,” said Mseteka.

The suspects have been charged with cultivating and being found in possession of cannabis without a permit.
