Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture says the ongoing National Sports Policy review exercise is crucial in transforming the country, in line with Malawi 2063.
Principal Secretary responsible for Administration, Misheck Munthali, said this in Mzuzu during the 2026- 2031 National Sports Policy Review Consultative Meeting for the Northern Region.
The current National Sports Policy, which was developed in 2007, is outdated and needs to be reviewed to reflect current demands in the sports sector.
Munthali described the consultative meeting as crucial, saying it aims to review and update the policy to align with modern developments.
Limbani Matola from the Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) said the meeting is timely as it will help the council to review its policy as well.
The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture, in collaboration with MNCS, is expected to conduct similar consultative meetings in other regions across the country.
A National Sports Policy is a critical instrument in the development of sports in the country.
