Self-help initiatives springing up in Mwanza

Communities in Mwanza District are reviving a self-help spirit towards development initiatives.

People in Senior Chief Nthache’s area have kick-started the move by clearing a five kilometre earth road stretching from Gogo Nthache Turn-Off to the headquarters.

They have also constructed two structures: a Community Based Childcare Centre at Biriwiri Village, which will be roofed once materials to be supplied by legislator for the area, Joyce Chitsulo are in,
and a school block at Lipongwe Primary School.

Some of the projects which are expected to be implemented under the intervention in Senior Chiefs Govati and Inkosi Kanduku Maseko are road clearing, foot bridge rehabilitation, construction of classroom blocks and pit latrines.

The self-help activities are implemented under the community development policy.
