Prophet, accomplice nabbed for fraud

Police at Jenda in Mzimba have arrested Isaac Mkandawire, a self-proclaimed prophet and his accomplice Eunice Soko for conduct likely to cause breach of peace and attempted to defraud people.

Jenda Police publicist, Macfarlen Mseteka, says the two brought a small-sized coffin in the village of Zatuwa Zimba and pretended it was magical and required prayers for it to vanish at a cost.

Mseteka says Mkandawire alleged that the coffin had charms and was meant to magically kill a villager who is in South Africa and demanded K350,000 for his service and to free the person who was bound from the spell.

However, the scenario turned ugly when one of the villagers claimed to have seen Soko, his accomplice to the prophet, around the area where the coffin was placed.

The coffin.

It was also discovered that the prophet and her accomplice had performed a similar service where there was also a coffin brought in suspiciously and they pocketed K150,000 in a nearby village.

The matter was reported to Jenda Police station, where officers rushed to the scene and arrested the prophet and his accomplice for conduct likely to cause breach of peace and fraud other than false pretence.

Mkandawire, a prophet at Jerusalem Ministries, and her accomplice, Eunice Soko, come from Mzimba district and will be taken to court soon when all the paperwork is completed to answer their charges.
