PRISONS NOT PUNITIVE FACILITIES – ZIKHALE NG’OMA

Minister of Homeland Security Ken Zikhale Ng’oma has called for smooth societal integration of reformed prisoners for continued development.

Zikhale Ng’oma was speaking at Mapanga prison staff training school in Blantyre where he presided over a pass-out parade of 714 prison recruits.

He pointed out that the Malawi Prison Service (MPS) has shifted its focus from being a punitive establishment to being a correctional service.

In his remarks, MPS Commissioner General, Masauko Wiscot, said the recruits will enhance service delivery.

Also, party to the event was the Commissioner General of the Zambia Correctional Service and a representative of the Director General of the Mozambique Penitentiary Service.
