PPPC concludes Investor Conference

The Public Private Partnership Commission (PPPC) Investor Conference has concluded in Lilongwe with a call to local and international investors to finance long-term projects.

Patrick Kabambe, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the PPPC said the conference was organised to create awareness on existing investment opportunities, build investor confidence, mobilise resources  but also develop capacity of relevant private sector players.

According to a 2023 Diagnostic Study Report on Malawi by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), the country’s legal framework for Public Private Partnership (PPPs) only attracted about $1.2 billion in completed PPP projects in the last two decades.

The two-day meeting which was held under the theme ‘Overcoming Malawi’s PPP Challenges’ attracted 100 representatives from private entities, multilateral development and donor agencies.
