Oxfam to provide cash support to 800 households in Lilongwe

Oxfam Malawi, through Ireland’s Civil Society Partnership (ICSP), says it will support 800 households that have been severely affected by El Niño in traditional authorities Kalumbu and Masula in Lilongwe District.

During a meeting on Wednesday, Oxfam Project Coordinator Richard Kautale Tembo stated that the intervention will be carried out in partnership with Evangelical Lutheran Development Services (ELDS) and NBS Bank.

A Similar intervention is being implemented in Phalombe and Mchinji districts.

The initiative follows President Chakwera’s declaration of a State of Disaster in 23 districts in March 2024. Each affected household will receive K50,000.
