NICO Group launches One NICO Lived Experience

By Justin Mkweu

NICO Group has unveiled an internal initiative dubbed the One NICO Lived Experience, aimed at unifying its diverse subsidiaries under a single identity, shared values, and consistent service standards across all customer touchpoints.

The initiative was launched simultaneously through town hall meetings in Blantyre, Lilongwe, and Mzuzu, drawing participation from employees across the group, including NBS Bank, NICO General, NICO Life, NICO Pension, NICO Asset Managers, NICO Technologies, NICO Zambia, NICO Capital, NICO Holdings, ERIS, ICON Properties, and Blantyre Hotels.

Nico Group Managing Director Vizenge Kumwenda said the launch marks a pivotal moment for the organisation, emphasising the need for a cohesive identity across all operations.

“We realize that although we are many, we are One Group. One Standard. One Lived Experience. Wherever someone encounters this Group, they will experience the same spirit, the same professionalism, the same integrity and the same commitment to excellence,” said Kumwenda.

Group Chief Operating Officer Kwanele Ngwenya indicated that the program marks a deliberate shift away from isolated operations toward a more integrated approach.

To reinforce the initiative, NICO Group has introduced a dedicated logo and the hashtag #ThePowerOfUs, which will be used across all subsidiaries to promote a unified brand identity.

Echoing the call to action, Nico Life Chief Executive Officer Wise Chigudu underscored the role of individual accountability in driving the initiative forward.

He added that the Group will introduce One NICO Lived Experience Awards to recognise and reward employees who exemplify the initiative’s values.

Employees who participated in the town hall meetings expressed enthusiasm and readiness to embrace the new direction, highlighting a strong internal buy-in.

NICO Group is one of Malawi’s largest financial services conglomerates, with interests spanning insurance, banking, pensions, asset management, technology, property, and hospitality.
