MZUNI alumni launch Adopt a Needy Student policy

Mzuzu University (MZUNI)’s alumni association has introduced a pioneering policy, encouraging members to adopt and support needy students.

This initiative was announced by the association’s president, Bertha Njewa, during the 2024 annual lakeshore conference in Mangochi.

Njewa emphasised that the alumni association is evolving beyond mere membership, focusing on meaningful contributions to the well-being of disadvantaged students.

“This policy is the first of its kind in the country’s alumni association history. Our goal is to collectively support needy students at the university with our collective resources,” she said.

Motivational speaker Mathews Mtumbuka, the guest of honor, commended the association for the initiative and urged the alumni to leverage networking opportunities.

He stressed that building connections are crucial for mobilising resources and achieving their objective of supporting underprivileged students.
