Airtel Malawi’s acting Supply Chain Management Director, Obester Thindwa, says they are ready to embrace the Typo Approval system that the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) is set to introduce.
Speaking during a one-day awareness campaign that MACRA held with stakeholders in Lilongwe, Thindwa said they will follow the system since they use products that are imported.
The Typo Approval System which is set to commence on December 1, 2024, will monitor certification and approval of electronic and ICT equipment imported into the country.
Deputy Director at MACRA, Nicholas Kanyenda said the Typo Approval System will help to match out fake products that are imported into the country and also examine health equipment that are imported.
All telecommunication and ICT equipment entering Malawi will be required to carry a MACRA label as proof of certification and validity.
