Malawi Defence Force (MDF) has stressed that culture plays a vital role in promoting unity among military student officers.
Commandant of the MDF Command and Staff College, Colonel Enock Ntonya, said this in Salima District during a cultural day event which brought together military students from various countries to showcase their culture, food and dances.
Ntonya said to operate effectively and gain respect and acceptance, military leaders must recognise the significance of culture and the diversity it carries.
Executive Dean of the Bingu School of Culture and Heritage at Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST),Atikonda Mtenje Mkochi, also highlighted the need for concerted efforts to fully implement policies designed to safeguard culture and heritage in Malawi.
The cultural day, held under the theme ‘Celebrating Cultural Heritage and Wisdom in Fostering Military Leadership’ featured military student officers from Botswana, Eswatini, Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, South Africa, Uganda, and Malawi.
