The Malawi Beach Soccer National team has sealed the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations slot in style after thumping Seychelles by 10 goals to 1 in the second-leg match at Sunbird Livingstonia Beach in Salima.
The home emphatic win means Malawi has progressed with 16 – 3 on aggregate as they also defeated Seychelles by 6 – 2 in the first leg in Seychelles.
Coach for the team Willy Kumilambe described the win as big motivation ahead of the continental showpiece.
However, Kumilambe expressed the need for continued camping and more friendlies to keep the team in shape and give more players opportunities.
Football Association of Malawi President Fleetwood Haiya has hailed the team for the five-star performance. Haiya has assured of FA’s total commitment to support the team with international friendlies in Senegal to adapt to the country’s weather conditions.
The seventh edition of the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place in Senegal from 7 to 15 November 2026, has since been rescheduled, with the tournament expected to conclude towards the end of November.
